In the honor of Marvin Minsky’s birthday, we created a (posthumous) duet between Marvin and an AI. Marvin Minsky, the father of Artificial Intelligence (and a founding member of MIT Media Lab, and CSAIL), Marvin was a life-long pianist and an amazing improviser. With his great influence on music, AI and everything in between, we wondered: can we make an AI collaborate with Marvin?
This duet consists of two parts: a piece that Marvin has improvised on his Kurzweil synthesizer, and an AI model which would complete his piece (in a way, the AI would respond to Marvin).
A collaboration with Morgan Rivers, we brought the duet to life on Marvin’s piano that resides at the Media Lab (watch the duet above.)
